House in Matinhal by ARX

White, it’s a colour full of possibilities and often provokes strong debate as to it’s use in Architecture and can there be a level of overkill as it were. In many cases, in my opinion certainly, Architecture of a poorer quality uses the purity of white to shield flaws in design because it creates a flow through the building that the design fails to achieve. In this case the strong design is a little overwhelmed by the sheer volume of white used in this build. It almost lends a cold clinical quality to what would otherwise be a successful design. It shows that strong design should, nay must be complimented by an equally strong, successfuly finish, externally and internally.
